Jointing sleeve for telecommunications - cable

The basic sleeve is supported on the cable ends by perforated disc spacers and is a plain cylinder of thermoplastic synthetic resin. The moisture seal is provided by tubes of heat-shrunk synthetic resin, which is shrunk onto both cable sheaths and on to the sleeve. A separate tube is used at each end of the jointing sleeve which has one end shrunk onto the cable sheath and the other on to the sleeve. Additional parts with coarse threads may be used to improve sealing and also to enable separation of the joint for testing.
