PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst with which N2O can be efficiently decomposed by depositing Ir, Rh or Ru on a mordenite having a specified Si/Al molar ratio or higher. CONSTITUTION:Ir, Rh or Ru is deposited on a mordenite having <=10 Si/Al molar ratio. By using the obtd. mordenite Ir catalyst, mordenite Rh catalyst or mordenite Ru catalyst, N2O can be more efficiently and directly decomposed at lower temp. than by using a mordenite Co catalyst, mordenite Fe catalyst or mordenite Cu catalyst. Especially, by using the mordenite Ru catalyst, N2O can be removed at lower temp. by about 100 deg.C than the temp. of decomposition by using a mordenite Co catalyst. |
