DIGITAL MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of high-speed reproducing in the case of digital magnetic recording using predictive compressed encode. CONSTITUTION:Respective recording tracks on a magnetic tape 4 are divided into an intra-block recording area 5 for compression-encoded data only with information in the divided blocks of moving image signals and inter-block recording areas 6 and 7 for data compression-encoded by utilizing information in the other blocks as well. At the time of high-speed reproducing, the regenerative output signals of magnetic heads 1 and 2 are linked by a switch 21, and the regenerative output signals of magnetic heads 18 and 19 are linked by a switch 22 as well. The output signals of these switches 21 and 22 are supplied to a switch 23, and only the part of intra-blocks is extracted. The data in such as intra-block are decoded by a predictive compressed code decoding circuit 25. Thus, the reproduced images with high quality can be obtained.
