PURPOSE:To reduce menu operation and to eliminate the need for preprocessing for editing by editing shape data with a symbol arranged at a specific position in a display figure, and editing contents obtained from the arrangement position and elements to be edited. CONSTITUTION:Graphic language data 8 are inputted by handwriting through a user operation processing part 10 and a corresponding symbol is arranged at specific positions to be edited over a look at two-dimensional display data to be edited which are displayed at a display part 7. Then an editing instruction decoding part 9 performs a decoding process as to which editing the symbol indicates, and the obtained editing contents are sent out to a shape element recognition part 2 and a shape processing part 5. Then the object element is determined according to the arrangement position of the symbol of the graphic language and the editing contents and a shape element recognition part 2 obtains coordinates between the specific position and two-dimensional display data 4 from the editing place obtained from the position where the symbol of the graphic language is arranged and the editing contents sent from the editing instruction decoding part 9 to obtain the element to be edited.
