TRANSFER EFFICIENCY MONITORING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To calculate transfer efficiency in real time and to improve the accuracy of controlling the transfer efficiency by detecting the actual surface characteristic of a photosensitive body before and after a transfer process. CONSTITUTION:An optical sensor consisting of a photosensor 51 and a light emitting element 52 and an optical sensor consisting of a photosensor 53 and a light emitting element 54 are provided before and behind a transfer device 24 with respect to a copying paper carrying direction, respectively. The optical sensor outputs a detection signal in accordance with the reflectance of the surface of the photosensitive body 21. In order to detect the reflectance at the same part on the surface of the photosensitive body 21, a master CPU 40 makes the sampling start time of the detection signal lag by a fixed time and calculates the transfer efficiency based on an average sampling value before and after the transfer process.
