PURPOSE:To efficiently erase an image formed on a sheet with a toner and ink capable of becoming colorless with light having a specific wavelength. CONSTITUTION:An image erasing halogen lamp 22 and an image reading fluorescent lamp 23 are installed in an optical system 20. An erasing sheet is carried onto a platen glass 4 by using an automatic document feeder 100. By moving the optical system 20 in a direction shown by an arrow (b), the sheet carried onto the platen glass 4 is irradiated with light including near infrared rays by use of the halogen lamp 22 so as to erase the image on the sheet. The sheet is irradiated with the light from the fluorescent lamp 23 just after the image on the sheet is erased, and the reflected light is detected by a line image sensor 28 so as to discriminate whether or not the image is erased. The image-erased sheet is ejected to a tray 115, or housed in trays 51 and 55 installed in the machine through a vertical carrying path 80. |
