PURPOSE:To improve the utilization efficiency of light from a light source by guiding the light from the light source into a light guiding plate through a transparent liquid. CONSTITUTION:The lighting body consists of a light guiding plate 1 consisting of an optically transparent plate having a light scattering/reflecting face in one face, a sealed vessel 6 which is provided in at least one side part of the light guiding plate 1, and contains the face of the side part, a light source 5 provided in the sealed vessel 6, a transparent liquid 8 enclosed in the sealed vessel 6, and a light reflecting plate 2 provided on the side of one face of the light guiding plate 1, and guides light from the light source 5 into the light guiding plate 1 through the transparent liquid 8. That is, the light emitted from the light source 5 passes through in the transparent liquid 8 having a refractive index of the same degree as that of a transparent body for constituting the light guiding plate 1 and the light source 5, contained between the light guiding plate 1 and the light source 5, and goes into the end face of the side part of the light guiding plate 1. Accordingly, since the light of the light source 5 is guided into the light guiding plate 1 through the transparent liquid 8, it is scarcely reflected by the face of the side part of the light guiding plate 1, and the light of the light source can be guided efficiently to the light emitting face of the light guiding plate. |
