PURPOSE:To enhance the contrast in the liquid crystal display device in which a visual field angle enlarging plate is arranged on the surface side of a liquid crystal display panel. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a polarizing plate 2 placed on the surface of a liquid crystal display panel 1, a visual field angle enlarging plate 5 consisting of a bar-like concave lens group in which plural concave surfaces 22 are formed in parallel on the lower face of a rectangular transparent plate 21 consisting of an acryl resin, etc., is placed. In such a state, for instance, as indicated with an arrow of a full line or a dotted line, an emitted light from the surface of the liquid crystal display panel 1 transmits through the polarizing plate 2, and thereafter, bent and diffused immediately, therefore, a visual field angle can be widened remarkably. Also, since the concave surface 22 of the visual field angle enlarging plate 5 consisting of the bar-like concave lens group is uniform, the device can be constituted so that refraction of the emitted light does not differ at every picture element, and accordingly, it does not occur that an image becomes white, and the contrast can be enhanced. |
