PURPOSE:To reduce the steps of mounting a laser diode and a photodiode. CONSTITUTION:There is provided a photodiode structure for monitoring the optical output from a laser diode 1. In this structure, the laser diode 1, photodiode 2 and a printed circuit 3 are arranged on a substrate 4 in such a manner that the photodiode 2 receives the reflection from the side of the printed circuit.
