The component measures rotation, angle, flexing and displacement through its own deformation and the associated change in electrical resistance. It consists of an elastically flexible housing (1) filled with liquid or gaseous electrolyte (2). In the undeformed state the sensor has a definite resistance when the housing is sealed (3) and connected (4) into an electrical circuit so that current is passed through the electrolyte. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in automation of various processes, e.g. vehicle manufacture. Compact sensor component contains only few parts, undergoes no friction, requires no special protection against moisture or fouling, is easy and flexibly mounted and can be made in various shapes.
