PURPOSE:To improve the cycle characteristic by providing a positive electrode, in which the specified compound oxide is used as active material, and a negative electrode made of lithium metal or the like and the nonaqueous electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The compound oxide usually expressed with a formula LixM1-yAyO2 is used as active material of a positive electrode 3. In the formula, M means transition metal, A means the metal having a diameter smaller than that of M and arranged with 6 cations, and x<=1.0, 0.1<=y<=0.4. A negative electrode 1 is made of lithium metal, lithium alloy or carbon material, which can store and discharge lithium. In this battery provided with the positive electrode 3, the negative electrode 1 and the nonaqueous electrolyte, oxygen ion is easy to be absorbed by the crystal structure to facilitate the insertion and separation of lithium ion, and the distortion and the breakdown of the crystal structure with the repeat of charge and discharge is restricted to improve the cycle characteristic. |
