The medical information is based around data cards (10) of the size of a cheque card that contains key data relating to the holder, that may be of use for emergency treatment. Key medical history and details of limiting conditions, such as allergies are held in EEPROM on the card. A photograph (12) and printed information (14) is also contained on the card. The card is inserted into a reader (32) that is part of a terminal (20) that has a processor based system for handling the card data. The unit has a display panel (28) and a printer for hard copy output (32). USE/ADVANTAGE - for health insurance purposes or emergency treatment. Enables medical history of patient to be rapidly accessed.
