The hydrophilic polymer films are made by applying a photopolymerisation composition comprising 1-40 wt.% of a hydrophilic monomer chosen from acrolein, acrylonitrile and acryloyl chloride, a photoinitiator, a photosensitiser, and a wetting agent to a high frequency pretreated polymer film, and photopolymerising the coating on the film to form a hydrophilic polymer film. The film has good hydrophilic properties, flexibility, resistance to blocking and weather resistance, and is useful as food wrapping material and agricultural film.
