PURPOSE:To provide a synthetic lubricating oil excellent in lubricating characteristics, heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance, etc., to be used in refrigerating machines, etc., consisting mainly of a reactional product from a hydroxycarboxylic polyol ester, aliphatic polyfunctional carboxylic acid and aliphatic alcohol, etc. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, a reactional product is obtained by heating up to 220 deg.C a mixture of (A) a hydroxycarboxylic polyol ester of the formula (R1-R4 are each alkyl and are mutually same or different) (e.g. hydroxypivalic neopentyl glycol monoester) with (B) an aliphatic polyfunctional carboxylic acid (e.g. adipic acid), (C) an aliphatic monohydric alcohol (e.g. neopentyl alcohol), and, as necessary, (D) an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol (e.g. neopentyl glycol), in the presence of a catalyst such as tetrabutoxytitanium to carry out reaction while removing the water produced from the system. Then, the reactional product as a main component is incorporated with mineral oil, synthetic oil, antioxidant, etc., to obtain the objective synthetic lubricating oil excellent in lubricating characteristics, heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and good in compatibility with cooling media. |
