PURPOSE:To improve strength of blending Ti0z powder with Al2O3 powder in a stoichiometric amount ratio, adding specific total amounts of SiO2, MgO and Al2O3, slurrying the blend with water, molding, drying and burning. CONSTITUTION:TiO2 powder and Al2O3 powder both having <=0.5mu average particle diameter are blended in a stoichiometric amount ratio. The blended powder is mixed with agalmatolite and talc so as to give 8-12wt.% total ratio of SiO2, MgO and Al2O3 to give raw material powder. Then the raw material powder is mixed with a proper amount of water, mixed by a ball mill, etc., to prepare a slurry. The slurry is cast into a gypsum mold, dried and solidified to form a molded article. Then, the molded article is removed from the mold, dried, solidified and burnt at 1,450-1,525 deg.C to give ceramics materials of low thermal expansion, such as burnt material of ammonium titanate, having <=20mum particle diameter, 10-15% controlled pore volume, high strength and low thermal expansion. |
