Suitable catalysts include H 2 S (e.g. in the form of (NH 4 ) 2 S or NH 4 HS), alkyl mercaptans alkyl sulphides, Br 2 , NH 4 Br, HBr, CH 2 Cl 2 , ammonium polysulphide, and reaction products of one mole of H 2 S with from 1 to 2 moles of an amine. Pyrolysis temperatures of 500-900% may be used, and a diluent may be present, e.g. steam, N 2 or CH 4 . |
