PURPOSE:To smoothen the starting of an automatic transmission consisting of a main clutch and the gear transmission by controlling the opening of a throttle corresponding to the quantity of the throttle worked and the speed of revolution of an engine. CONSTITUTION:The signals of an accelerator sensor 13, a throttle sensor 9, a revolution-speed sensor 18 and a car-speed sensor 23 are inputted to an electronic controller 14, and the adjustment of the opening of the throttle 6, the turn ON-OFF of the main clutch 3 and the variable speed operation of the gear transmission 2 are executed automatically. When the car is started, the main clutch 3 is connected slowly and continuously by the signals of the electronic controller 14 while the opening alpha of the throttle valve 6 is changed in response to the change of the load torque of the engine, and the speed of revolution of the engine is kept constant.
