Multistage compressor of the axial type in which the impeller (1) consists of two or more impeller crowns (2) arranged in a straight line, offset, or in some other way, such that the impeller blades (3) of one impeller crown always exhibit a constant opposite delivery direction to that of the following impeller crown. Guide arrangement such as wall-like reversal blades (4) inclusive of guide wheels (5) are provided for the guidance of the delivery medium from one crown to another. USE/ADVANTAGE - Configuration which offers a considerably enlarged pressure ratio for fans, blowers and small compressor installations.
