PURPOSE:To prevent small bend of an optical fiber due to pressure during filling an insulator with an org. insulating material or due to contraction accompanied with hardening of the org. insulating material, and to obtain an optical fiber composite insulator having good transmitting performance of light and durability. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber insulator is manufactured by introducing a optical fiber 2 to a through hole 1a of the insulator body 1, filling the through hole 1a with an org. insulating material 3B, and hardening the org. insulating material 3b to seal the optical fiber in the org. insulating material. The org. insulating material 3B is supplied while the optical fiber introduced to the through hole 1a is straightly tensioned. This state of the optical fiber is kept till the org. insulating material 3B is hardened. It is preferable that the elongation of the optical fiber 2 while straightly tensioned is between >=0.1% and <=1%. |
