PURPOSE:To quickly and efficiently cope with complaints by confirming the picture quality, the quality of sound, etc., of an audiovisual program in a center at the time of complaints about them from subscribers. CONSTITUTION:When a subscriber complains to the center about the picture quality or the quality of sound, a monitor and control mode signal to control a modulating circuit 30 of a CATV subscriber terminal equipment is transmitted from the center. When the CATV subscriber terminal equipment receives a CATV signal (x) including the monitor and control mode signal, a data demodulating circuit 25 demodulates the monitor and control mode signal in the signal (x) and outputs it to a microprocessor 26. The microprocessor 26 outputs a control signal (c) to a modulating circuit 30. The circuit 30 outputs a modulated signal which has the frequency converted to a preliminarily determined band. This modulated signal is outputted as a monitor number signal (y) from a terminal A through a branching filter 10. The center performs a prescribed work when receiving the signal (y).
