The timing gear has a camshaft (5) with a radial cam (4), which actuates a lifting valve (2) via a transmission element (6). The element has a device (7) for a preset stroke adjustment of the lifting valve. The device is regulated dependant upon stroke- and pivot movement of the transmission element. The device is a hydraulic assembly with two pistons (9,10) in a hydraulic chamber (8). One piston (9) is movable for preset stroke adjustment of the valve via a cam path (11), which is adjustable relative to the movable transmission element. The second piston engages on the shaft (12) of the valve, and is formed as a valve clearance compensation element (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple variable valve timing gear for IC engine.
