The invention relates to a ventilation device comprising a heat exchanger, through which the ambient air has been designed to circulate and be blown essentially horizontally back into the room with the aid of an inlet air flow blown through the supply duct 2, the heat exchanger, the supply duct 2 and the air distribution and circulation devices having been arranged inside a common shell casing 1. In order to reduce costs, the heat exchanger has been designed so that at least some of the walls 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b of the shell casing 1 are arranged so that they function as at least part of the heat transfer surfaces of the heat exchanger. <IMAGE>
