PURPOSE:To accurately detect the internal defect of a wire coil over the entire length by developing the wire coil which is suspended by a support shaft rotation drive device and then running the developed ring-shaped wire. CONSTITUTION:When a support shaft 2 is rotated in coil-winding direction while a wire coil 3 is suspended horizontally, the coil 3 is expanded naturally. The developed coil 3 is sandwiched and supported by three pairs of guide rollers 6 and are moved at a rate of, for example, approximately 20 mm/sec. A flaw detector 5 allows a contact to touch the running call 3, ultrasonic wave to be discharged continuously, and then senses a reflection echo and detects a defect. The moving coil 3 forming a ring is held and supported by a guide rollers 6 before and after the flaw detector 5, thus improving accuracy in position and speed for the flaw detector 5 and achieving a stable and accurate flaw detection. |
