A rotary hydraulic motor comprises co-axially arranged rotor, stator and distributer, in which the rotor 1, Fig. 2, closed at its ends by end walls 6, 7, Fig. 1, included a plurality of axiallyextending recesses 15 forming work chambers, and, as shown, surrounds the stator 3 which is fixed to a stationary shaft 4 and includes a plurality of axially-spaced radial channels 23, 24, 25, 26 communicating with radial axially-extending slots 22 mounting slides 2, one more in number than the number of recesses. The shaft 4 includes an inlet duct 16, an outlet duct 17 and a waste duct 18 and together with a rotary slide 5 secured for rotation with the rotor 1 forms the distributer to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to and from the work chambers and the plots 22. In operation, liquid under pressure admitted through the duct 16, passes through radial shaft ports 29 into an annular chamber 27 in the rotary slide 5 and thence by holes 19a in the rotary slide and radial channels 19 in front of each slide 2 in the stator to each work chamber. At the same time liquid from the chamber 27 passes through holes 23a in the rotary slide and channels 23 fitted with non-return valves 13 in the stator to below the slides 2 to assist springs (not shown) to urge the slides into sealing engagement with the wall of the rotor 1. Liquid being expelled from the working chambers from behind the slides 2 through radial channels 20, holes 20a and an annular chamber 28 to the outlet duct 17. At the same time liquid is exhausted from behind the slides 2 to allow a slide to pass a switching area 0 through channels 26 and holes 26a to the annular chamber 28 and outlet duct 17. To reverse the rotational direction of the rotor 1, 16 becomes the outlet duct and 17 the inlet duct, liquid entering the chambers through the radial channels 20 and leaving by radial channels 19. Holes 25a and channels 25 fitted with non-return valves 13 and holes 24a and channels 24 control flow to and from the slots 22. The roles of the rotor and stator may be reversed whence the slide members are fitted in the new outer stationary member. |
