1,152,784. Nut runners. CLYDE CORP. 11 May, 1967 [12 May, 1966], No. 21830/67. Heading B3N. A nut runner comprises a body 12, pivoting nut holding jaws 34 mounted in the body, a nut-engaging socket 16 secured to a motor driven shaft 18, and a spring-urged nut engaging pin 22. The latter has a rounded end 24, which provides universal type connection with the edge of the base of the nut. In operation, a nut 46 is fed along a passage 44, and is held by jaws 34. The nut runner and workpiece S are relatively moved towards each other until the nut engages the workpiece. Socket 16, is moved towards the nut along with pin 22 until the end 24 abuts the nut, socket 16 is rotated, moves a further distance toward the nut, opens up jaws 34, and the nut is then run-up on the workpiece. |
