Data communication system between material mixer and road laying machine - uses transponder within transport vehicle for surfacing material loaded with data at mixer and interrogated at application point

The data communication system uses a transponder (12) on board a transport vehicle (11) to convey road surfacing material from a mixing point to an application point. Data is entered in the transponder at the mixing point and is accessed via a transponder interrogation device (29) mounted on the road laying machine (21). Pref. the road laying machine has an on-board computer using the accessed data to control the operation of the machine, e.g. the machine movement velocity and the thickness of the applied road surfacing layer. ADVANTAGE- Simple communication between mixing point and road laying machine for adapting machine operation to different parameters to ensure high quality road surface.
