Compounds represented by general formula (1), a process for the production thereof, a method of killing weeds or controlling their growth therewith, and a herbicide containing the same as the active ingredient. In formula (1), R<1> represents H, C1 to C3 alkyl or C1 to C3 haloalkyl; R<2> represents C1 to C6 haloalkyl; R<3> represents H, C1 to C6 alkyl, C1 to C6 haloalkly, CH2OH, halogen or nitro; R<4> represents H or halogen; R<5> represents H, halogen, nitro or cyano; X represents O or S; and Da and Db represent each independently H, C1 to C8 alkyl, C1 to C6 haloalkyl, C3 to C8 cycloalkyl, C2 to C8 alkenyl, etc., provided that the cases where both of Da and Db represent H, etc., are excluded. These compounds scarcely inflict chemical injury on crop and have a high herbicidal effect on various weeds even in small doses.
