A carbapenem derivative represented by Formula I: wherein R<1> is hydrogen or a hydroxy protecting group; R<2> is substituted or non-substituted lower alkyl; R<3> is hydrogen, an inorganic or organic base, or a carboxy protecting group; and R<4> is a compound represented by any of the following Formulae II through V: wherein R<5> and R<6> are independently substituted or non-substituted lower alkyl.
