The invention comprises thiophosphorus esters of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are C 1 -C 4 alkyl, R 1 is H or methyl and n is 1 or 2. They may be obtained by hydrolysing and reacting the hydrolysis product, desirably without isolation with a compound of the formula wherein Hal is halogen. The hydrolysis is suitably effected by use of an alkali, preferably an aqueous or aqueous alcoholic solution of NaOH, KOH or NH 4 OH and the further reaction with compound (III) may be carried out in an organic solvent or diluent suitably at 20- 100‹ C. or at the boiling point of the mixture (if lower). The products have insecticidal, acaricidal, nematocidal, fungicidal and bactericidal properties. They may be used in admixture with liquid or solid diluents or carriers and surface-active agents may also be present, suitable preparations being, e.g., in the form of solutions, emulsifiable concentrates, emulsions, suspensions, spray powders, pastes, soluble powders, dusting agents or granulates.
