METHOD OF COUNTING PRINTED SHEETS

A method of counting sheets delivered to at least one delivery station by a machine which includes a conveyor comprising a succession of equally long sections in each of which a respective sheet can be held and from which the respective sheet can be released to the delivery station comprises establishing in a memory of a data processing system a theoretical map of a section containing a sheet, the map being constituted by a set of command values each representing the occupancy of a respective unit of length of the section by a sheet or otherwise and each being associated with an address representing that unit of length; totalizing digital signals form a plurality of sensors under control of command values from the theoretical map; and comparing the totalized signals with a preselected minimum threshold to provide an indication that a sheet has passed the set of sensors.
