TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM WITH RELEASE APPARATUS A trailer brake system includes apparatus to provide release of the brake pads pads (48,50) from engagement with the rotor (55) upon braking. Each brake assembly includes a stationary bracket (30) for attachment to the axle (25) and a caliper unit (45) with the brake pads (48,50) mounted by a single pivot pin (36) on the bracket (30). A relief valve (80) is engaged by the pivoting caliper unit (45) to provide the release of the brake pads (48,50). The bracket (30) includes a support ring (32) for direct mounting on the axle (25) and an integral yoke (33) above the ring (32); one arm of the yoke (35) limiting the pivoting movement of the caliper unit (45) in one direction by a fixed stop (75) for forward movement/normal braking of the trailer, and the other arm (34) supporting an actuator stop (90) for the relief valve (80) engaged by pivoting in the opposite direction.
