Protection is provided in a flood detector, via sensors 14 placed in the floors of kitchens, bath houses or industrial plants, for property and, indirectly, persons, via an apparatus that controls a normally open electrovalve, placed between the water meter and its inlet pipe in the dwelling. As soon as there is any anomaly such as open taps due to previous lack of water or any fault in domestic appliances operating directly with water, when the sensors sense 0.5 mm of water on the floor, it shuts off the mains water, via the control of the apparatus, via the electrovalve, and turns on a buzzer 18 and an alarm warning light 19. This occurs when the control switch 6 is in the automatic position indicated by a green LED 10. In the manual position it shuts off the water without having to use the safety tap, being indicated by a yellow LED 23. <IMAGE>
