The wheelchair has a frame (11) consisting of a seat, a sloping backrest and side walls. The chair is propelled by hand-actuated rear wheels (1,2) and is steered by pivoted front wheels (5,6). The frame (11) constructed from laminated panels made from plastics reinforced with carbon fibres. In the heavily loaded areas of the frame the carbon fibre layers are formed with the carbon fibres arranged to run in at least four different directions. The thickness of the panels lies between 0.1 cm and 0.5 cm. USE/ADVANTAGE - Wheelchair for the physically handicapped. The plastics panels form a wheelchair with a very light weight which is esp. suitable for wheelchair athletes.
