<p>A socket connector (2) for interconnecting a carrier member (250) and a semiconductor package (300) having leads (304), comprises an insulative housing (4) having channels (12) containing terminals (98) having resilient contact portions which are laterally movable when depressed. A latch member (150) arranged to press the semiconductor package (300) against the contact portions of the terminals (98), has a shoulder which the carrier member (250) must clear as the carrier member (250) and the semiconductor package (300) are inserted into the socket connector, so that the latch member (150) opens outwardly whereby contact between the package leads (304) and the contact portions of the terminals (98) causes lateral movement of the contact portions so that they wipe the package leads (304). Upon further insertion of the package (300) and its carrier member (250), the latch member (150) closes under spring bias so that the contact portions backwipe the package leads (304). <IMAGE></p> |
