PURPOSE:To perform optimum processing corresponding to the tendency of an instruction appearing in a program to be processed by performing pipeline processing corresponding to the characteristics of the program to be processed. CONSTITUTION:An information processor which performs the pipeline processing sets the operation mode flag of a pipeline corresponding to the execution of a predetermined instruction such as a floating point instruction. This flag switches a selector 37 so that the optimum processing of the floating point instruction is performed. At this time, the processing is performed through a long pipeline. The original short-pipeline mode is entered when an instruction such as a supervisor call instruction is executed or when the pipeline processing is broken owing to the misprediction of the branching direction of a branch instruction. |
