<p>PURPOSE:To prevent reverse tilt in an active matrix liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION:This active matrix liquid crystal display device has a structure comprising a lower substrate 5 and a upper substrate 10 laminated and a liquid crystal layer 11 interposed between these substrates. The substrate 5 has a thin film transistor 2 disposed on the crosspoint of a signal line 4 and a gate line 3 and a picture element electrode 15 connected to this thin film transistor 2. The substrate 10 has an opposite electrode 9. Slopes are formed around the picture element electrode 1 between the electrode 1 and signal line 4 and gate line 3 to make steps and at least one side of the slope has the max. tilt angle theta1<=60 deg.. By making a gentle slope as surface steps on TFT substrate 5, reverse tilt can be suppressed. These slopes are formed by, for example, reflowing an interlayer insulating film 8.</p> |
