PURPOSE:To provide a sheet material having excellent resistance to the growth of crack by a method wherein unvulcanized rubber compound is formed into a sheet having specific thickness and said sheet is stretched in lengthwise direction by a specific ratio and then electron rays are applied thereto to increase specific modulus by a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:An unvulcanized rubber compound is formed into a sheet having a thickness of 0.5-3.0mm, which sheet is stretched by 50-300% in the length direction thereof. And electron rays are applied to the sheet in such stretched state so that 300% modulus at 25 deg.C is increased up to 2.2-6 times the modulus before the application of electron rays, thereby producing a sheet material. On the other hand, the sheet material thus produced is used as a coating rubber for tire reinforcing materials in a radial tire for heavy load. For example, the sheet material is used as a coating rubber such as belt coating rubber 1, carcass ply coating rubber 2, wire chafer coating rubber 3, belt end cover rubber 4, carcass ply end cover rubber 5, or wire chafer coating rubber 6, etc. |
