The pin contact has a flat contact section (4) with a stamped out area (3) providing two opposing L-shaped contact arms (6) fitting either side of a cooperating knife contact (5). The spring force of the contact arms is reinforced by an additional spring element (2). The spring element comprises a split ring fitting around the outside of the contact arms (6) adjacent their free ends, or a U-shaped spring fitting around the stamped out area (3) of the contact section (4). ADVANTAGE - Maintains high contact force between cooperating contact surfaces under high thermal loading.
