The method, for controlling the operation of an elevator, in which, when first and second operating controllers scan and detect the on signals of first and second service floor switches, the detected signals are stored in a built-in memory and transmitted to the counter part car, and cage button signal and hole raising/ lowering button singal are compared with an operation service available data by the on signal of the service floor switches to operate the elevator to a corresponding floor,thereby automatically controlling the operation.
