PURPOSE: To periodically give the instruction of an equipment state under progress to an operator through the sequence of transient change in the equipment state by comparing the respective adapting coefficients of plural supposed plant states and identifying the present plant state. CONSTITUTION: The supposed plant state of at least one kind of plan sequence is stored in a storage device 14 through the use of multilevel logic. A processor 10 stipulates the calculation of the adapting coefficients as against the respective supposed plants. Then, the processor 10 converts data from a process equipment by a data collecting device 12 into the value of a multilevel logic variable, calculates the adapting coefficients as against the respective supposed plant states of at least one kind of plan sequence through the use of the multilevel logic variable, compares the respective adapting coefficients of the supposed plant states and displays it in an operator display equipment 16. The operator identifies the result and keeps the present plant state to be the optimum one.
