PURPOSE:To enhance consuming performance of oxygen gas generated in a positive electrode by treating a hydrogen storage alloy with predetermined alkylsilazane in a water repellent process. CONSTITUTION:A surface or a particle surface of a hydrogen storage alloy electrode is treated in a water repel lent process with alkylsilazane having 1-30 carbon atoms in an alkyl group, thus obtaining a negative electrode. Use of the negative electrode treated in the water repellent process of high water repellency can enhance absorbing performance in the negative electrode of oxygen gas generated in a positive electrode, thereby restraining an increase in inner pressure of a battery. |
