PRODUCTION OF CATALYST FOR SYNTHESIS OF UNSATURATED ALDEHYDE AND UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID

PURPOSE:To produce a catalyst which gives a high yield of the objective product for synthesis of acrolein and acrylic acid or methacrolein and methacrylic acid from propylene, isobutylene or tertiary butanol. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst for synthesis of unsatd. aldehyde and unsatd. carboxylic acid is a multicomponent catalyst containing Mo and Bi, and is obtd. by drying and calcinating a mixture soln. or a water-base slurry containing at least a Mo compd. and a Bi compd. During the slurry is subjected to heat treatment at 200-600 deg.C in the calcination stage, the dried material is calcined in an atmosphere containing >=1vol.% of nitrogen oxide and >=0.5vol.% oxygen for at least two minutes.
