The invention relates to an article of footwear, such as a shoe, a glove, or, alternatively, a cap or a hat, characterised in that it comprises at least one component element based on a substance containing at least one hydrocolloid. The hydrocolloid used makes it possible to absorb at least a proportion of the perspiration and then to desorb the absorbed perspiration. The hydrocolloid content of the said substance is preferably at least 15%. The hydrocolloid used is also preferably of algal origin. <IMAGE>
