摘要 To determine the deg. of corrugation at a surface, the surface is illuminated (LQ) at a flat angle (Wl) and the reflected light is shown on a screen (LW) as an image (SP). The corrugation is measured by the repeated peaks and valleys on the projected image. A unit to form shadows can be laid and/or moved across the surface scrutiny, as a shadow screen. The corrugation of the projected image is compared with an image of a known corrugation to measure the gaps between the corrugated peaks and valleys to locate and mark the peaks on the surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is used for quality control of worked surfaces, such as pretensed or hardened glass panes, and other surfaces which have been machined and the like, which would affect the transparency or reflection characteristics, such as in building cladding materials. It is also used to monitor the quality of thin deposited layers for solar cells. The technique gives a rapid, simple and accurate test of the corrugation at a surface.
