<p>Armchair convertible into a stretcher bed comprising a back rest (5), a seat (7) and a leg rest (7) fitted to an assembly of two lateral rectangular frames, articulated at the top and integral in the collapsed state. The front (1) and rear (2) sides of said frames extend upwards and downwards to form the lateral reinforcements of the back rest (5) and the leg rest (6), while the lower sides (3) constitute the lateral reinforcements of the seat (7) with the upper sides each being articulated about a horizontal axis (8) which is normally at right angles to the vertical planes traversing said reinforcements, and integral with an underframe (9) resting on the floor. The arm chair is characterized in that the articulation axis (8) of the upper side (4) of a frame is disposed either under or above said upper side (4), at a distance from the latter not exceeding 10 centimeters. The armchair is especially for handling, transporting, carrying and seating handicapped persons or patients having to be examined or operated.</p> |
