PURPOSE:To provide the optical switch which is a mechanical optical switch for changing over circuits by being inserted into optical fiber circuit and is particularly constituted to change over the circuits by rotating a rotary substrate fitted into the diametrally expanded hole of a base substrate. CONSTITUTION:This optical witch has the base substrate 10 which has the diametrally expanded hole 11 passed vertically through the substrate, the disk-shaped rotary substrate 20 which is fitted into the diametrally expanded hole 11 of the base substrate 10 and a driving device 30 which rotates the rotary disk 20. Plural optical paths 12 to 15 for input and output are provided on the base substrate 10 and the inlets and outlets of the optical paths 12 to 15 for input and output are properly distributed in the diametrally expanded hole 11 thereof. On the other hand, plural optical paths 21 to 22 for changeover are provided on the rotary substrate 20 and the inlets and outlets thereof are properly distributed to the outer peripheral surface of the rotary substrate 20. The communication and connection of the inlets and outlets of the optical paths 12 to 15 for input and output or the diametrally expanded hole 11 of the base substrate 10 and the inlets and outlets of the optical paths 21 to 22 for changeover on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary substrate 20 are changed over by rotation of the rotary substrate 20 by the driving device. |
