The fixing consists of a locking element which surrounds the lower part of the chamber above its bottom edge to hold the up-turned edge of the layer of material in place. The locking element can be, for example, in the form of an O-section seal ring with a hardness of between 70 and 80 Shores, fitting against a truncated conical surface on the inside of the well. The upper edge of the chamber can be made to clip into a recess in the inner surface of the well to hold the seal ring in place under pressure, while a collar situated close to the bottom of the chamber prevents the seal from rising. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used to fix a layer of material designed for cell culture, for example in multi-well plates below the lower level of a chamber. Design is simple and more convenient to use in sterile conditions.
