PURPOSE:To eliminate such a defective case where a shooting operation is carried out by mistake with a lens cap kept on a lens as it is or in other unshootable states. CONSTITUTION:A logical controller detects the saturation peak value and the luminance peak value within a shooting screen through a color information detecting part and a luminance information detecting part respectively and then decides whether a shootable state or not based on these detected peak values (201). If judged to be a shootable state, an automatic or manual in-focus control mode is decided (203). When an automatic in-focus mode is decided, a distance measuring frame is set for an auto-focus action (204) and the auto- focus control is carried out (205). If judged to be an unshootable state, the distance measuring frame is erased (206) and the manual focus control is carried out (207). Then, the manual in-focus control is carried on until a shootable state is obtained and the drive of a focusing lens is discontinued unless the manual in-focus operation is carried out. |
