PURPOSE:To exactly and surely identify the image directions of longitudinal and lateral originals even for a document mixing the longitudinal and lateral originals by recognizing the longitudinal and lateral directions of image information, deciding the image direction of image information and successively deciding the image direction consistency of image information recognized in the decided reference image direction. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a longitudinal/lateral direction recognizing means to recognize the longitudinal/lateral direction of the image information, and a reference image direction deciding means to decide the image direction of the reference image information. Then, the image direction consistency of the recognized image information to the decided reference image direction is successively judged. After copy is completed, the image direction consistency is confirmed in a step S421. When the consistency is OK, a READY mode is started. When the consistency is NG, an alarm is displayed at an operation part in a step S422. When the operation part is set in a code reception READY state, an alarm display code is transmitted, and the alarm is displayed for requesting confirmation to an operator. |
