Sealing socket for cable, e.g. of rotational angle sensor for vehicle - is formed by plastics material moulding around cores protruding from end of cable after removal of length of sheath

The socket (5) is moulded on to the cable (4) around the end of its sheath (7) from which the strands (8-11) protrude. The moulding is of plastics material with four sealing rings (12-15) of sawtooth profile on its outside for engagement in the housing of the device to which the cable is connected. The sheath is cut off in a plane which passes through the centre of the moulding at right angles to the axis of the cable. ADVANTAGE - Very simple device exerting triple sealing effect between housing and exterior of sheath, between sheath and its internal surface, and around individual cable strands.
